At Northgate Primary School, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, achieve and fulfil their potential. Our Governing Body plays an important role in helping to make this happen.
Working in partnership with the Headteacher and school leadership team, our governors provide strategic leadership, support and challenge to ensure that Northgate continues to offer the best possible education and opportunities for all our pupils.
Our work is guided by three core responsibilities:
- Setting the vision and direction – helping to shape the future of Northgate and ensuring that our values and ambitions remain at the heart of everything we do.
- Supporting and challenging school leaders – monitoring educational outcomes, pupil wellbeing and the quality of provision, while holding leaders to account for the school's performance.
- Ensuring the effective use of resources – overseeing the school's finances and making sure that resources are managed responsibly and used to support the best possible outcomes for our children.
The Full Governing Body meets regularly throughout the academic year, supported by its committees, which undertake more detailed scrutiny of key areas of the school's work. This includes the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee, which oversees financial performance, risk management and financial controls.
Governance is a shared commitment to the success of our school. Our governors bring a range of skills, experiences and perspectives, working together in the best interests of Northgate's pupils and wider community.
